Service Industry Training Program

IINE’s Workforce Development Department is excited to announce the launch of its Service Industry Training (SIT) Program, which will offer 16 weeks of specialized training and job placement support to participants interested in working in the financial, hospitality, health care, or retail sectors.

The 16-week skills training curriculum will cover a variety of topics, including :

  • Customer service
  • Career exploration
  • Vocational English
  • Advanced computer instruction
  • Interviewing strategies
  • Resume writing
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Workplace safety

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM START?
The SIT Program will run two (2) cycles in the coming year:

First cycle: November 1, 2011 – March 2, 2012
Second cycle: April 2, 2012 – July 20,2012

Classes will meet Mondays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

INFORMATION SESSIONS:
Information sessions are held every Friday morning at 11 a.m. We ask that all interested candidates attend an orientation session at least four (4) weeks prior to a cycle’s start date. To speak with the program’s coordinator, please call Aisha at 617-695-9990 ext. 177.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
All individuals enrolled in the SIT Program must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • A Boston resident
  • A refugee or immigrant (including naturalized U.S. citizens who speak English as a non-native language)
  • United States work authorization
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Interested in working in a service-related position and able to keep a full-time job
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
